How tennis odds work

Tennis has no draw, so the core market is match winner: two prices, one for each player. With decimal odds, R100 at 1.50 returns R150. A player priced at 1.20 is a strong favourite, and a player at 4.00 is an underdog. If a player retires injured, settlement follows Betshezi’s rules for that market, so check the terms on betshezi.com.

A tennis calendar for every week

The tennis season runs almost all year. The four Grand Slams, the Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open, are the big ones, and ATP and WTA events fill the weeks in between, from Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 events down to 250-level tournaments and the Challenger tour. Because tournaments change every week, this page picks up whichever ATP and WTA singles events are in the feed, so there’s always something on.

Surface matters

Tennis is played on hard courts, clay and grass, and many players are much stronger on one surface than another. Big servers often do well on grass and fast hard courts, and patient baseliners shine on clay. Before you bet, check a player’s recent record on that surface, not just their ranking. Time zones matter too: Asian events play overnight and in the South African morning, European events in the afternoon, and American events late at night.

Popular tennis markets

Set betting: the exact score in sets, such as 2-0 or 2-1. Game handicap: one player starts with a games advantage to even out a mismatch. Total games (over/under): a bet on how many games the match lasts. First set winner: useful when a slow starter faces a fast one. Women’s matches and most men’s tour matches are best of three sets. Men’s Grand Slam matches are best of five, which tends to favour the stronger player.

Live tennis betting

Tennis is one of the most popular in-play sports, because odds swing after every break of serve. Prices update point by point and markets pause briefly during key moments. Keep your stakes the same as before the match and don’t double up to recover a lost set.
